“Who will be the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Hyderabad?” will be the next question as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) fallen short of majority in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) election results 2020.
The ruling party in the State has won 55 seats whereas candidates of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) emerged victorious in 44 seats.
Huge hike in BJP seats
On the other hand, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that had put all its efforts in the polls and invited national leaders including Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the campaigning has managed to win 48 seats.
In the polls, Congress won only two seats. The party that once ruled in the State settled with a single-digit seat.
Although, TRS has emerged as the party that secured largest number seats in the election, it failed to cross the magic number of 76.
Now, to attain the majority in 150-seat GHMC, any two parties of TRS, MIM, and BJP have to form an alliance. The most probable alliance could be TRS and MIM.
