Step by step process for Canadian PR Visa will be discussed in this post. In other posts, the process for getting a Permanent Residence (PR) Visa for Australia, the United Kingdom (UK), New Zealand and other countries will be explained.
What is the Canadian PR Visa?
Canadian PR Visa will allow its holder to stay in Canada for five years. This visa can be extended.
With a valid PR Visa, you can enter and exit Canada as many times as you want i.e., it is a multiple entry visa.
During the stay in Canada, one will get all facilities that are provided to the Citizens including education and medical facilities. However, Permanent Residents neither can vote in elections nor can work in the military.
If the Permanent Resident stays in Canada for at least three years out of five years, he/she might get Canadian Citizenship.
Difference between Permanent Resident and Canadian Citizen
As mentioned earlier, Permanent Residents will get all facilities that are provided to Canadian Citizens except PR Visa holders cannot vote in elections and join the military.
Other differences come into the picture when you want to visit your home country. Permanent Residents of Canada do not require a visa to visit their home country as they are still the citizen of their home country. However, once they become citizens of Canada, they may require to take visa.
Eligibility to apply for Canadian PR
As per the official website of the IRCC website, applicants for Canadian PR must score at least 67 points out 100.
The points are based on age, education, work experience, language skills, adaptability and employment.
